Courtney Vanderbrook is a young trainer located in Rochester, New York and the surrounding Finger Lakes area.

Courtney’s love for horses started at a very young age. She showed hunters and jumpers for many years growing up, and developed a passion for the younger more difficult horses to ride.

While most high school students were filling out college applications, Courtney knew college wasn’t for her, and she began pursuing a career in training horses and coaching. Courtney began working with a local trainer by the name of Dave Minteer in the fall of 2012. She has been working for him ever since. She now trains all of her horses with Dave’s method’s which have roots in John Lyons and Natural Horsemanship.

Courtney recently traveled to South Carolina to attend the Young Jumper Trainers School put on by the Young Jumper Championships and the United States Hunter Jumper Association. Courtney desired to use her natural horsemanship methods on her hunter/ jumpers and was pleased to find the trainers (Linda Allen, Jose Alejos and Kelly Mc Knight) used many of the methods she had learned through Dave.

In her spare time she works with her own rescue horse adopted from Purple Haze. Purple Haze is the Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack adoption center.
