Story submitted by Second Chance Thoroughbreds

In June of 2017, we were called about a local thoroughbred in need of a home. He had recently from the Finger Lakes Race Track, and the new owner was having second thoughts and no longer wanted him. Luckily, we had a stall available and were able to take Lex into our program. He was body sore from recent racing, but showed no apparent injuries. Seeing he was eligible for the 2018 Thoroughbred Makeover, we decided to evaluate him once under saddle (he was a good boy!), and then let him have plenty of downtime. We kept his eligibility for the Makeover in 2018 (horses need to have less than 15 rides off the track as of December 2017). Lex was adopted at the end of August 2017 to a trainer who will be competing him at the Retired Racehorse Project 2018 TB Makeover in Kentucky.
