July 29, 2014 – The Pennsylvania National Horse Show is pleased to announce the return of Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center to its roster of sponsors.

This year’s Pennsylvania National Horse Show will feature A Home for Every Horse’s “Equine Comeback Challenge,” pairing 10 rescue horses and 10 trainers for 90 days. The Challenge will culminate at PNHS on Tuesday, October 14 with the Challenge competition at PNHS presented by Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center.

Penn Vet is a global leader in veterinary medicine education, research, and clinical care. Founded in 1884, Penn Vet is the only veterinary school developed in association with a medical school. The school is a proud member of the One Health Initiative, linking human, animal, and environmental health.

Penn Vet serves a diverse population of animals at its two campuses, which include extensive diagnostic and research laboratories. New Bolton Center, Penn Vet’s large-animal hospital on nearly 700 acres in rural Kennett Square, PA, cares for horses and livestock/farm animals. The hospital handles more than 4,000 patient visits a year, while the Field Service treats nearly 36,000 patients at local farms. In addition, New Bolton Center’s campus includes a swine center, working dairy, and poultry unit that provide valuable research for the agriculture industry. Ryan Hospital in Philadelphia provides care for dogs, cats, and other domestic/companion animals, handling more than 31,000 patient visits a year.

Known throughout the equestrian world as a premier facility, Penn Vet is a natural fit with Pennsylvania National Horse Show – “The Horseman’s Show” – and the Equine Comeback Challenge. Promoting adoption, local horse rescues and awareness of these talented horses, the Challenge provides a platform to showcase these horses and hopefully lead them to a “forever home” and a new, rewarding career. Penn Vet will partner with the Challenge and offer discounted services to the winning trainer.

“We are delighted to partner with the Pennsylvania National Horse Show and promote the Comeback Challenge,” said Corinne Sweeney, DVM, Associate Dean of New Bolton Center. “One of our missions is to support the health and wellbeing of horses, and the Comeback Challenge reflects those values, too.”

“We are so very pleased to welcome Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center back to the Pennsylvania National Horse Show as a sponsor. Partnering Penn Vet with the Equine Comeback Challenge held at this year’s show was an obvious fit and we are happy to bring these two entities together for the betterment of our equestrian partners,” said Liz Shorb, President of the Pennsylvania National Horse Show.

Held October 9 – 18, 2014 at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA, the Pennsylvania National Horse Show will feature eight national championships with some of the best riders and horses from around the country. International competition will culminate in the World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix on Saturday, October 18. Proceeds benefit community equine and youth activities.
