Boulder, Colo. – The A Home for Every Horse East Coast Equine Comeback Challenge at the 2015 Pennsylvania National Horse Show wrapped up 90 days of training last night. The Equine Comeback Challenge horses were a sight to be seen last night; all shining and ready to show the world that they are making their comeback and ready for their second career off the track. Each trainer and horse had an amazing story; Stormont O My (Stormy) completely funded her previous owners college with her track earnings, Platinum Bombshell had only been off the track two weeks before entering the challenge, and Scooter never even had his chance on the track, but shined last night with Skye-Anna showing off his talents with new friends. While each story was told, at the end of the night, the winner was Kelsey Parisi and Indian Rain Dance, a pair that truly proved to each other that they were meant to do great things. With heart felt comments after their win, Kelsey said “Rain was trained for a new career and in a way he launched mine, showing me so much about myself and what is next”.

A Home for Every Horse has paired eight trainers with eight horses for 90 days of training in preparation for a one-of-a-kind competition. The trainers, who have been working with their horses since mid-July, and converged to compete in versatility trail class. Following the course, each will had an additional two minutes to showcase, in freestyle form, the work they’ve done with their horses. Following the Challenge event, the horses will be sold privately, by the trainer, to approved homes, and each will be listed as available rescue horses on Equine.com.

The Pennsylvania National Horse Show provides a spectacular stage at one of the largest indoor horse shows in the United States. The 8 trainers, including; Joel Miner, Skye-Anne Nye-Smith, Josie Howard, Shane Ogden, Missy Morris-Rothfuss, Kelsey Parisi, Sabrina Asper, and Lucretia Galbraith will provide the means for the eight rescue horses—which were all previously listed as unwanted—to showcase their abilities.

After years of helping rescues find homes for horses previously listed as unwanted, A Home for Every Horse took rescue horses to a new level. The goal of the Equine Comeback Challenge is to showcase the ability of rescue horses all over the country, with the help of trainers willing to donate their time and experience to a rescue horse for 90 days the Equine Comeback Challenge has been able to showcase rescue horses as willing and competitive equine companions. For the East Coast Equine Comeback Challenge the eight rescue horses were provided by these regional rescues; Lollypop Farm and the Humane Society of Great Rochester, Second Chance Thoroughbreds Inc., Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program, Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue and New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program. Rescues all over the country have adoptable horses just like those that will be participating in the Challenge event.

A Home for Every Horse’s generous partners are on board to help with the East Coast Equine Comeback Challenge in a big way; Purina delivered four bags of grain to each trainer to help the horses achieve optimum performance condition, Tractor Supply Company provided gift cards to each trainer to assist in hay and other supplies, while Zoetis and WeatherBeeta will be providing donations to the forever home each horse finds after the competition. Each of the East Coast Equine Comeback Challenge trainers will also receive shirts for their participation from Cinch Jeans.
