Program’s title sponsor contributes $150,000 in coupons in eighth year of participation

It’s coupon time again!

For the eighth consecutive year, Purina Animal Nutrition has pledged $150,000 to needy equines through A Home for Every Horse (AHFEH). The donation came in the form of 303 coupons for free Purina feed mailed out this spring to eligible 501(c)(3) rescues, sanctuaries and care facilities around the country.

A program created to find “forever” homes for horses in need of adoption or fostering, AHFEH also strives to support the hard work and dedication of the rescues that shelter and rehabilitate these animals. Thanks to Purina’s continued assistance, more than 800 tons of feed have been donated to date to help these organizations help their rescued equines. Because rescues and shelters rely heavily on donations, it is often difficult for them to afford veterinary care, training fees and more. Feed is one of the most urgent needs, so the assistance offered by Purina Animal Nutrition through the AHFEH program is invaluable.

“At Purina, we believe that there is greatness in every horse. We also believe that with the right care, the right nutrition and the right home, every horse can reach their potential,” said Purina Animal Nutrition Marketing Director Jamie Kinnear. “That’s why Purina is proud to be the title sponsor for A Home for Every Horse and proud to stand with all the wonderful A Home for Every Horse shelters across the United States that care for horses in need and help them find their forever homes.”

Ashley Harkins, director of the United Horse Coalition (a founding partner of AHFEH), couldn’t be happier. “As a collaborative organization, it is important for us to foster relationships with other organizations within the horse industry that promote the welfare of horses at risk or in transition,” she explained. “We look forward to seeing this partnership continue to flourish, and to provide rescue organizations with benefits that have a direct impact on increasing the welfare of the horses in their care.”

Equine Rescue Sign-Ups

Rescues and shelters can benefit from this program by submitting their nonprofit paperwork to A Home for Every Horse and completing the 2018 A Home for Every Horse rescue application. The simple registration process requires 501(c)(3) verification and offers benefits such as free feed from Purina and free listings of adoptable horses on Equine.com. Shelters can email 501(c)(3) forms and the application to ahfeh@equine.com or mail them to 5720 Flatiron Parkway, Boulder, CO 80301.

Participating rescue shelters can choose from a variety of Purina® horse feeds to match the nutritional needs of their horses. Eligible feeds include Purina Strategy® GX, Strategy® Healthy Edge® and Equine Senior® horse feeds. These options help rescue shelter operators rehabilitate and provide ongoing nutritional care to horses at varying stages of recuperation.

About AHFEH

A Home for Every Horse was created in 2011 as a result of a partnership between the Equine Network, the nation’s leading publisher of equine-related content, and the American Horse Council’s Unwanted Horse Coalition (now the United Horse Coalition). The program provides a resource for 501(c)(3) horse rescue organizations. The A Home for Every Horse program helps connect rescue horses in need of homes, in over 700 rescues across the United States, with people looking for horses. To make the connection between rescue horses and homes, rescue organizations can list their horses for free on Equine.com, the world’s largest horse marketplace, where they can be seen by 300,000 visitors each month. Rescue organizations involved with A Home for Every Horse are also provided with many great benefits from the sponsors involved with the program. A Home for Every Horse specifically works with sponsors to help provide much-needed assistance to rescues around the country. Purina has donated feed to eligible rescues through A Home for Every Horse for the past eight years. Absorbine, WeatherBeeta and Tractor Supply provide many great donations to rescues that are featured events attended by A Home for Every Horse staff each year.
